The Liberal Democrats have announced they will fight the General Election on four key principles, designed to make Britain much fairer. The four priorities are fair taxes; a fair start for every child; fair, clean and local politics and a fair, green economy with jobs that last.
Liberal Democrat European justice & human rights spokeswoman and London MEP Sarah Ludford said:
"People in London have been let down by their politicians and are rightly frustrated. We are going into the election with a clear direction and a manifesto that is direct and to the point. At the heart of the Liberal Democrat campaign is fairness."
"London has extremes of rich and poor, with many people on middle incomes struggling. We will introduce much-needed justice into the tax system by closing loopholes for the richest and making tax cuts of £700 for everyone else."
"For those with children at school in London, the LibDems promise investment to help reduce class sizes, improve discipline and develop one-to-one tuition."
"We would also give you the right to sack your MP. The Liberal Democrats are the only party committed to real change in our political system, flushing out big money and corrupt donors and cutting the number of MPs by 150."
"We pledge to rebuild the economy in a way that uses green technology and cuts carbon use and creates lasting jobs. We will put an end to casino banking, bring back competition and support local entrepreneurs to make sure London businesses can find the money they need to grow."
"We will do this - and more - by working through the EU with other European member states. Unlike Cameron's Tory party, Liberal Democrats understand that in order for Britain to rebuild economic prosperity, tackle climate change and cross-border criminals and have greater influence on the world stage, we need to take a lead in Europe."
