Dawn Barnes and Nick Clegg at the "The Wave" climate change rally
Members of Enfield Liberal Democrats joined the climate chaos march, The Wave, on 5 December in advance of the climate change summit in Copenhagen. World leaders are due to discuss climate change issues and ways to lower our carbon emissions and try to stop the world warming beyond 2 degrees. Between 20,000 and 50,000 people marched through London and surrounded the Houses of Parliament to get the message to the Government in the hope that Gordon Brown will fight for our cause in Copenhagen.
Liberal Democrat leader, Nick Clegg MP, was present along with the Lib Dem environment spokeperson and London MPs, Simon Hughes and Susan Kramer.
Dawn Barnes, local campaigner pictured with Nick Clegg, said: "Reducing our carbon emissions and use of resources actually saves money while helping to stop extreme climate change. Britain is a place of great enterprise and talent and, not only can working to reduce our environmental impact save money, it also helps create jobs in a new sector and encourage entrepreneurship. World leaders need to set achievable targets and inspire us to meet them while making a living and leaving extra cash in our pockets."
