Sarah and Hasan Dindjer, the chair of the Habs Politics Society, shake hands
Last Friday Sarah visited Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School in Hertfordshire, just over the London boundary, to talk to the Habs Politics Society about on her work as an MEP, Britain's role in Europe and what the Lisbon treaty really means for the EU. She was introduced by the chairman of the society Hasan Dindjer (pictured). In the subsequent question and answer session the students had so much to say that time ran out.
Sarah said: "It was a delight to meet and discuss with such an intelligent set of young people, even if one student at the end estimated that only 3 of them (of about 50) supported the Lisbon treaty! But I hope my visit has inspired the students to learn more about the EU and the European Parliament, perhaps get involved in politics themselves, and at least bring a critical attitude to not only what I say but also what the Eurosceptics say."
