Sarah meets Jean Etherton, UK Vice President of B'nai B'rith and Wendy Fishman, President of Raoul Wallenberg Lodge
As part of European Days of Jewish Culture and Heritage 2009, Sarah gave a talk to the Hampstead lodge of the Jewish community and human rights organisation B'nai B'rith and is pictured with B'nai B'rith UK National Vice President Jean Etherton and the President of Raoul Wallenberg Lodge Wendy Fishman.
Sarah spoke about the Jewish contribution to European and international law and human rights, through the thinking of Judaism about social responsibility and 'repairing the world' (the concept of tikkun olam) and the efforts of individuals like Rene Cassin, Robert Badinter, Simone Veil, Sir Hersch Lauterpacht, Raphaael Lemkin, Elie Wiesel and Simon Wiesenthal. Sarah is a member of the Liberal Democrat Friends of Israel and believes that Jewish organisations have an important role to play in guaranteeing a culturally rich Europe where respect for different religions and identities is upheld.
