A Tale of Two Suburbs

April 13, 2006 12:00 PM

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…"

Since we've been campaigning in Lower Edmonton, we have come across several important local issues on the doorstep. One issue is frequently raised, residents are worried by the disorganised nature of council investment in the infrastructure of the area.

In the west of the borough the tories are boasting to residents about the extensive long term reconstruction of all the footways & roads in the wards. Whereas in Lower Edmonton no progress on such a scale is being promised. Why not? It really seems as if there are two sides to this borough - and the tories are only interested in one of them.

There are examples all over Lower Edmonton of poor maintenance and a crumbling infrastructure. From potholes on Bounces Road to a disused and partly removed street lamp in Bath Road, the residents deserve a better environment to live in.

Liberal Democrat council candidate Rob Lambie says "If elected, we will not stand-by and allow Lower Edmonton to suffer four more years of neglect and poor investment. We will raise these issues at council and we will demand better service provision for all our residents."
