Enfield Civic Centre
Across London over £150 million remains uncollected in 2004/05 Council Tax, plainly an unfair burden on the great majority who pay their tax, often under considerable personal hardship.
In Enfield alone £5.0 million was still uncollected midway through 2005 which ranks our council as one of the ten worst boroughs in London.
With further increases in council tax we believe more effort must be put into collecting the unpaid tax, whilst at the same time recognising that the council tax is a bureaucratic nightmare to collect. Every family in London could have nearly £50 back if everybody paid council tax on time.
